This is the beautifully crafted Glimåkra Standard - Countermarch loom.  Made from natural and sustainably sourced materials in Sweden.  These wonderful looms have been around for many years, and will take full pride of place in any weaver's studio.  
 
In this countermarch loom, tie-up the shafts are raised or lowered independently of each other as compared to the counterbalance tie-up, where the shafts are balanced against each other.
 
Since the shafts may be raised and lowered independently, the shed will be even and better – this is an advantage in any weaving. This is more significant in multi-shaft weaving, when using delicate material or uneven number of shafts or a narrow warp in a wide loom or with uneven distribution of warp threads in the shafts.
 
Two types of Countermarches are available, one with two sets of horizontal jacks and the other with one set of vertical jacks.
 
The loom comes with Weaving Bench, cloth protection board (in front of the breast beam) and Warp Sticks. To tie up the loom you will need to order 1 Texsolv tie up set per 4 shafts, plus 8 packs of Texsolv Split Anchor Pegs. A set of heddles, a minimum off 400 heddles per shaft, and a reed are also required to get you started. Floor space required: 181cm x 160cm, height 175cm.
