The Susanna is a good choice for the beginner, as it is an easy to use rigid heddle loom. This gives you two sheds for weaving plain weave.
The loom frame is sturdy, and very portable. The back of the frame can be made into a warping frame for winding your warp. Just turn it upside down and insert the dowels.
 
Susanna is made from birch and has an inside width of 70 cm (27″).
