The Louët S17 is the ideal spinning wheel if you are a beginner and after a budget wheel to get you up and running spinning your own yarn.  It is a single-treadle Irish Tension wheel, made from laminated birch, and is versatile with Art Yarn bobbins and an Art Yarn flyer  both available as extras to expand the basic wheel set up.  
As well as the spinning wheel itself, the S17 comes complete with flyer, three bobbins and a two-rod Lazy Kate included.
 
The bobbins are pre-assembled and the wood on them has already been sanded and the edges rounded.
 
The wheel is supplied flat-packed for shipping and requires to be built from the main pre-assembled components. All the tools - a screwdriver and Allen key - that you need to assemble your wheel are included and it really is very straightforward to build from the main components.  
 
As a kit, the wood surfaces require smoothing with sandpaper and finishing with lacquer or wax. Lacquer/wax is not included so you can choose the type of wood finish to your own preference.
 
As with all Louët wheels, the S17 makes use of quality ball bearings on the main wheel and flyer axles with no requirement for regular oiling.
