Wonky Weaver Marigold Flower is derived from the botanical, Tagetes erecta (Marigold) - dried and chopped. This can be used to produce bright/vivid yellows, and yellowy colour shades.
It is always recommended to first wash and scour the fabric prior to dyeing, and when using cotton, you need to pre-mordant in a tannin bath before mordanting with ALUM, or use Aluminium acetate for better dyeing results. Also for animal fibres such as wool and silk, also scour, and mordant before dyeing. You should expect vibrant yellows, and oranges.
Suggested WOF is 20-30% depending on desired colour shade.
Wonky Weaver® Natural Plant Dyes are derived from botanical sources, and are both sustainable and ethically produced. We carefully source our dyes from suppliers we trust to uphold the highest of standards in quality.
Using plant dyes is very enjoyable and satisfying but does require some degree of experimentation to get the desired coloration of your fibres, yarns and fabrics. Results also depend on the type, weight and make-up of the fibre, and water quality, temperature and length of time in the dye bath amongst many other factors. The type of mordants, dye assists and modifiers will also affect the resultant colour of your dyed materials, and therefore we do not guarantee the results of our natural dye products.
Please store your dyes out of reach of children, out of sunlight and under dry conditions.
