This alluring silk yarn is hand spun with 50% organic Eri Silk, and 50% organic Tussar silk providing for a lovely light weight and variegated finish. The Tussar silk comes from the cocoons of the silkworm belonging to the moth genus Antheraea and the Eri silk comes from the worm Samia ricini which feeds on the leaves of castor plants. It is known as peace silk as it is processed without harm to the silkworm.
 
This silk yarn characteristically forms a fine yet dense material with strength, durability and elasticity, and due to its thermal properties it is warm in winter and cool in summer.
