Soft and lofty - ideal for spinning, peg loom weaving, felting and much more.  Supplied as 100g

Lleyn wool—from the native Welsh breed on the Llŷn Peninsula—is a versatile, springy fiber. Crafters and commercial spinners favor it for its excellent stitch definition, natural bounce, and ease of dyeing.

Key characteristics of Lleyn:

  • Fibre Fineness: Ranges between 26 and 33 microns, placing it in the medium-soft range.
  • Staple Length: Averages 6 to 12 cm (2.5 to 5 inches), making it highly manageable for hand-spinning.
  • Texture & Crimp: Possesses moderate crimp, providing a lofty, airy character with natural elasticity.
  • Colour: Features a pure, creamy-white fleece free from kemp (coarse, brittle fibers) or dark hair, which makes it ideal for consistent dyeing.
  • Durability: Highly durable and resilient ("squidgy"), making it excellent for outer garments like sweaters, socks, and hats that require longevity.
  • Craft Versatility: Highly regarded for colour work, cables, and structured garments. It felts well and yields a strong, sturdy finished material
