Weaving the fabric for the Urdd National Eisteddfod Chair 2023

The Urdd Eisteddfod is a festival with over 15,000 youngsters under the age of 25 competing in arts performances including singing, dancing and performing. The festival has been going for over 100 years. This year the Urdd Eisteddfod will be held in the beautiful drovers town of Llandovery in Carmarthenshire, Wales, UK.

It was a great pleasure to be asked by Bedwyn Rees who crafted the Urdd Eisteddfod chair to hand weave the fabric for the seat and back in Urdd colours, and using a traditional Welsh historical design. Each year the chair is awarded to the best poet based on a theme.

We are really looking forward to the festival here in Llandovery, and all the best to all the children and youngsters competing in this fabulous event.

Here is a little video showing how the fabric was woven by our Weaver Haydn from Wonky Weaver. For any queries contact us - email: info@wonkyweaver.com
